We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Teacher to join a specialist school supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The Role
As an SEMH Teacher, you will play a key role in supporting students with a range of behavioural, emotional, and social difficulties. Responsibilities include:
* Establishing consistent, positive relationships with students, including those who may have experienced trauma or disruption to their education.
* Planning and delivering high-quality, differentiated lessons that support both academic progress and emotional development.
* Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including teaching assistants, mental health professionals, and external agencies, to ensure a holistic approach to student support.
* Implementing effective behaviour management and de-escalation strategies to maintain a safe and purposeful learning environment.
Person Specification
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
* Proven experience working with students with SEMH needs or within a comparable setting.
* A calm, patient, and resilient approach, with the ability to respond effectively under pressure.
* Sound understanding of trauma-informed practice and the impact of adverse childhood experiences on learning and behaviour.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
