The Sir Alex Ferguson Library in Glasgow Caledonian University is a state-of-the-art facility at the heart of the campus. It offers a wide range of high-tech learning resources and services, including over 1,800 study spaces, free Wi-Fi, and 350 computers. The library is designed to support both collaborative and individual study, with spaces for group work as well as quiet areas for focused study. We aim to create a vibrant learning environment for staff and students and are committed to supporting the University's mission of transforming lives and communities.
We seek to recruit a Research and Information Systems Manager to support the Universitys research strategy, contribute to an improved Research Excellence Framework (REF) submission, and manage the procurement, support and maintenance of the Librarys research systems. This includes the Universitys Current Research Information System (CRIS), Pure.
A critical component of this role will be collaboration with all relevant staff across the University including Research and Knowledge Exchange, Information Technology, Impact Officers, Research Administrators, Associate Deans - Research, and senior managers.
The Post Holder Works As Part Of a Team Under The Direction Of The Senior Librarian, Collections And Discovery And Will Lead On The Effective Delivery Of The Following Services
* Management, development, and support of library research systems and related services.
* Management of library services, including support for open access, research data management and open education.
* CRIS system training and advocacy.
* Management of projects related to library and research systems, including support for the Universitys REF submission.
* The coordination and delivery of reports to inform strategic decision making across the library and research support services.
The successful candidate will possess a degree and/or post graduate or professional qualification in a relevant subject plus significant experience managing library systems and related services, in particular the Pure current research information system. Knowledge of the research environment across higher education is essential, as are strong project management skills, excellent presentation and interpersonal skills, and experience of building internal and external network relationships. The candidate should have experience in open access management and research support, including providing advice and guidance related to the REF. Expertise in cataloguing and metadata standards is required.
