Protocol Education is recruiting a passionate Teaching Assistant to support students with special educational needs at Shrewsbury, starting in September 2025.

This role offers a rewarding opportunity to work with children and young people aged from Reception to Sixth Form who present a range of learning difficulties. You will work under the guidance of class teachers and senior staff to deliver tailored support that helps pupils engage with learning, develop essential life skills, and access education safely and confidently.

Key Responsibilities:

* Assist in developing and delivering personalised education, behaviour, and care programmes
* Support student safety, personal care, engagement, and emotional wellbeing
* Monitor and record progress, and provide feedback to both students and teaching staff
* Prepare classroom resources, set up learning environments, and help display student work
* Use ICT and other equipment to support learning and independence
* Help manage behaviour in line with school policies and individual behaviour plans
* Provide administrative support, invigilate exams, and help with marking and record-keeping
* Supervise students during lunch, before/after school, and on trips or off-site visits

Who we’re looking for:

* Strong relationship-building skills with children, teachers, and parents
* Resilient and confident in supporting behaviour that challenges
* Committed to fostering communication, wellbeing, inclusivity, and independence
* GCSEs in English and Maths (grades 9–4 / A* to C)
* NVQ Level 2 (required)
* NVQ Level 3 or above in a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable)
* Passion for SEN and willingness to grow through ongoing training

* Working Hours: 32.5 hours per week

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
