About the Company
A leading Construction Contractor who deliver work in the the buoyant Utilities and Civil Engineering sectors are recruiting a Head of Plant & Transport to join their business. This business work across the North West region, delivering crucial upgrades and maintenance to the power infrastructure network. This business have over 20 years of successful trading behind them, and have enjoyed an exciting period of growth over the past few years in particular. This is a key role that reports into the Board of Directors and will oversee a team of drivers, planners and administrators.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for a fleet of over 80 vehicles, including HGVs, Vans & Cars & a mix of owned and hired plant & machinery.
Roles & Responsibilities -
- Ensuring Operators Licensing Regulations are met and adhered to
- Ensuring the business remains compliant in line with our FORS accreditation.
- Setting daily tasks to the staff within their department.
- Responsible for a fleet of Plant & Machinery both owned and hired.
- Day to day running of the Plant & Transport Department.
- Tasking Maintenance staff with daily duties.
- Responsible for the Health and Safety of employees within their department.
- Acquisition of new & disposal of end-of-life vehicles, plant & machinery.
- Planned and Preventative Maintenance
- Working within budget.
- Dealing with motor vehicle & stolen plant Insurance claims and loss adjusters
- Board level input.
- Meeting critical and crucial H&S objectives to ensure our Company remains compliant in line with company accreditations, such as FORS.
About You
Ideally you are a CPC Holder and have gained exposure to managing a fleet of vehicles and plant within the construction / utilities / automotive / highways industries. You are team focused and have a proven ability to manage and motivate a team. Strong knowledge of Road Transport Regulations, Health & Safety, fleet compliance and working time directives. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong decision-making skills, and a sense of responsibility. Experience working within a construction background advantageous. Ability to work under pressure and deal with challenging situations professionally.

A competitive basic salary between £40-50k plus company benefits packages. Further details are available on request. This is a standard Monday to Friday with no weekend work required
