Our client, a homeless charity based in South West London, is currently seeking a Hostel Support Worker based in Richmond to join their team. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will work with vulnerable adults, remaining alert to risk, responding appropriately to concerns or incidents, whilst following safeguarding and risk management procedures.
Responsibilities include:
Deliver trauma-informed, person-centred support, recognising the impact of past trauma, adverse experiences, and systemic disadvantage on residents behaviour, engagement, and wellbeing.
Maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all residents throughout day and evening hours, responding appropriately to changing needs and dynamics.
Remain vigilant for signs of abuse, neglect, self-harm, exploitation, or deterioration in mental or physical health.
Handle telephone and general enquiries in a professional manner, liaising with on-call managers or senior staff where appropriate.
About you:
Experience supporting people affected by homelessness or rough sleeping, including those with complex needs such as mental ill-health, substance use, or trauma.
Strong knowledge of safeguarding and risk assessment, with the ability to identify, respond to and escalate concerns promptly.
Understanding of the issues, barriers, and behaviours that people experiencing homelessness may display, and the ability to respond with compassion and psychologically informed strategies.
Ability to build positive relationships and motivate individuals who may initially be wary of services.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Hostel Support Worker with a proven track record in supporting vulnerable adults to achieve positive outcomes. You will join a dedicated team, making a real difference in the lives of people experiencing homelessness, while developing your skills in a supportive and dynamic environment.
