Overview
Are you an experienced Registered Nurse or Paramedic looking for your next challenge? This role encompasses a mixture of general and specialist skills to provide care integrated with primary and secondary care. Skills include advanced patient assessment, coordinating complex discharges, communicating with, and teaching patients and families, phlebotomy and cannulation, administration of IV drugs and care of the acutely ill patient.
We are looking for someone who has excellent communication skills, is reliable, punctual and works well in a team. Creative thinking is a benefit in this changing environment. You will need to be able to work calmly and efficiently within a busy and intensive environment dealing with unpredictable situations whilst working collaboratively to remaining focused on providing a person-centred approach to care and treatment.
About RACU
We have an opportunity to join our team at the Rapid Access Care Unit (RACU) based at Townlands Hospital, Henley-On-Thames.
RACU is a Community Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) unit which provides sub-acute care for medically unwell patients over the age of 18 years. Each patient receives an individualised MDT assessment, diagnostics and treatment, with a commitment to patient-centred care. The Team comprises of doctors, nurses, paramedics, physiotherapy and occupational therapy.
This post would suit a registered nurse or paramedic from either an acute background or community setting. We need a wide range of skills for our patient group, and support and development is available to achieve this.
RACU is part of the Intensive Community Care (ICC) Pathway and works closely with our other SDECs in Witney and Abingdon, Hospital at Home and Urgent Community Response to provide care for patients that is closer to home, with aim to prevent any unnecessary hospital admissions. Responsibilities
* Provide care integrated with primary and secondary care, including advanced patient assessment and management of acutely ill patients
* Coordinate complex discharges and communicate with patients, families and the MDT
* Administer IV drugs, perform phlebotomy and cannulation, and support care delivery
* Work within a busy, multidisciplinary team to maintain a person-centred approach
* Contribute to teaching and promoting best practices among staff and patients
Requirements and Qualities
* Registered Nurse or Paramedic with capability from acute or community settings
* Excellent communication, reliability, punctuality and teamwork
* Ability to work calmly in fast-paced environments and adapt to changing conditions
* Commitment to patient-centred care and collaborative practice
