Deputy Manager – Children’s Residential Home

Salary: £44,246 – £50,076 per annum
Full-time, permanent, shift-based role
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager to join our client's children’s residential service. You will work in close partnership with the Registered Manager to deliver high-quality care, provide leadership to the team, and ensure the home meets all regulatory standards. This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of the service, support staff development, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people.
Responsibilities
* Support the Registered Manager in ensuring the home meets inspection and regulatory requirements.
* Lead, motivate and supervise residential staff, ensuring high-quality practice and professional development.
* Oversee and quality-assure care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour support plans.
* Contribute to recruitment, training, rota management, and performance monitoring.
* Promote a child-centred culture where the voices of young people are listened to and acted upon.
* Deputise for the Registered Manager in their absence, ensuring smooth running of the home.
* Support effective budget and resource management.
Qualifications and Skills
* At least 3 years’ experience in residential childcare, with supervisory or management responsibilities.
* A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) and willingness to work towards a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare.
* Strong knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, and safeguarding procedures.
* The ability to lead, motivate, and inspire a team while maintaining high professional standards.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage complex situations and competing priorities.
* A commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for children and young people.
