We’re working with a well-established precision engineering firm that specialises in subcontract manufacturing of high-volume, precision machined components. Job Description:
As a Production Engineer, you will support the core production operations from process planning through to execution and continuous improvement. In your role, you will:
* Prepare jobs for production through tooling, process planning, and pre-production readiness.
* Generate and optimise CAM programmes (milling and turning) and ensure setup standards are maintained.
* Implement and maintain tooling, fixtures, jigs, and workholding strategies.
* Assist in resolving issues on the shop floor related to tooling, setup, or machining programmes.
* Create and manage BOMs, routings, and related documentation in the ERP/MRP system.
* Collaborate with machinists, operations, quality, and maintenance to ensure smooth handover and production flow.
* Analyse existing processes for improvements, waste reduction, and cycle time optimisation.
* Drive continuous improvement projects and support efficiency initiatives.
Skills & Experience:
* Previous experience as a Production Engineer or in CNC machining / process engineering.
* Competency in CAM programming (preferably Fusion 360).
* Solid understanding of machining processes, tooling, fixtures, jigs, and workholding.
* Experience working with ERP/MRP systems.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with great attention to detail.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise across multidisciplinary teams.
* A proactive, organised mindset with a drive for continuous improvement.
* Bonus: experience with 5-axis machining or automation design for batch manufacture.
