Job overview
Are you a Specialty Doctor seeking an opportunity to work in an intellectual disability ward within a medium secure unit at Littlemore Hospital in Oxford? You will ensure that patients’ needs are met through the delivery of high-quality care and offer a person-centred approach.
You will be caring for patients detained under the Mental Health Act and looked after. The Oxford Clinic presents patients primarily from the Thames Valley Region (although also other areas if required, including Hampshire and Dorset).

The Thames Valley Forensic Mental Health Service (TVFMHS) provides treatment in a range of inpatient settings across the region (Oxford, Aylesbury and Milton Keynes). In addition, supervision is provided to patients discharged from inpatient environments. The service also inputs into local prisons and provides services for the Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) Pathway in the community. Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust holds a lead role across the whole South-Central Region for forensic mental health services, as part of the developing New Care Model.
Main duties of the job
You will work with the multi-disciplinary team at Evenlode Ward. You will contribute to regular Clinical Team Meetings and CPAs and lead on the physical health of patients. They will liaise with other medical professionals and disciplines at the point of admission, during treatment and at discharge.
There are two (sometimes three) core psychiatric trainees also based at the Oxford Clinic, within the Oxford Deanery core training scheme.
