We are working in partnership with a Barnsley alternative provision unit, which is looking for talented, creative, and enthusiastic individuals to serve as positive role models for students who have been excluded from mainstream school settings.
Our SEMH Teaching Assistants have the opportunity to make a positive impact on some of the most at-risk children in the area and support their progression to the next stages of their education.
Who are we looking for?
A successful candidate would:
* Have experience in an educational setting, either in mainstream schools or other alternative provisions.
* Have a history of working with students with challenging behaviour.
* Possess a confident, caring, and assertive personality.
* Be educated with GCSE Maths and English or equivalent.
* Hold an NVQ Level 3 qualification or be working towards it.
What to expect?
* Working in these settings requires patience, confidence, and a caring attitude, as many students have social, emotional, and mental health challenges that need managing.
* Many students may struggle to display emotions productively; therefore, Team Teach positive behaviour management strategies will often be used.
* Many children have low self-esteem and will need positive reinforcement when they display good behaviour.
* Leading small and whole class group work.
* Preparing resources.
* Completing records.
* Listening to children read.
