About the Role
Are you a recent graduate looking to kick-start your career on landmark major projects? Vulcain Engineering UK is recruiting ambitious, career-minded STEM graduates to contribute to some of the most exciting and challenging nuclear projects in the UK.
We are hiring six Graduate Engineers across Mechanical and Electrical disciplines to join our 2025 cohort.
Graduate Development Programme (2 Years)
Our structured programme is built around modules aligned with the Engineering Council’s UK-SPEC for Chartered Engineers and is underpinned by Vulcain’s values. It blends formal training, professional development, and on-the-job experience to set you on a clear pathway toward chartered status.
Programme Highlights
* Begin with a two-week induction alongside fellow graduates, covering topics such as Introduction to Nuclear, Nuclear Safety, industry guest speakers, and team-building activities.
* Develop your professional skills with training designed to enhance collaboration, communication, and client engagement.
* Undertake additional courses to build project management capability, commercial awareness, and leadership skills.
* Represent Vulcain as a Young Person in Nuclear and join the Vulcain Future Leaders (VFL) network for new entrants across the UK.
* Receive structured chartership mentoring from trained Vulcain mentors, including general professional guidance and dedicated chartership support.
* Join site visits for deeper insight into the nuclear industry, including major new-build projects such as Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C.
Working in the Nuclear Sector
With a primary focus on the nuclear sector, our technical communities in the South West are making valuable contributions to mega-infrastructure projects including Hinkley Point C (HPC) and Sizewell C (SZC). This is an opportunity to apply your knowledge to real-world challenges and support the UK’s drive toward Carbon Net Zero.
Candidate Profile
* Hold, or be close to completing, a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline with emphasis on one of these subjects.
* Have an indefinite and independent right to work in the UK (required due to the level of security clearance on several UK nuclear sites).
* Demonstrate a flexible, open approach to learning and development, with willingness to take on diverse tasks and interfaces beyond your comfort zone.
* Possess an analytical mindset, able to interpret and clearly communicate technical details to non-technical colleagues.
* Show strong active listening and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and effective working relationships.
* Comfortably challenge the status quo, bringing an innovative mindset and continuous improvement focus.
* Exhibit cultural awareness and the ability to work within multinational teams.
