About the Role
We are seeking flexible and committed Bank Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to join our team, providing 1:1 or small group support to children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
This is a zero-hour contract role, and will be offered on an as-and-when-required basis, depending on the needs of the school. Work can be allocated Monday to Sunday, offering flexibility to suit both the school's requirements and your availability.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide personalised support for students with SEND (ASD, PMLD, SEMH).
* Assist students with classroom engagement, communication, and independence.
* Support with personal care, mobility, and sensory needs where required.
* Encourage positive behaviour and inclusion, following school strategies.
* Prepare/adapt resources and support the use of AAC, sensory tools, and assistive technology.
* Monitor and report on student progress and wellbeing.
* Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and wider staff.
* Follow all safeguarding, health and safety, and behaviour policies.
Person Specification
Essential:
* GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
* Experience working with children or young people in education, care, or youth settings.
* Interest in supporting children with SEND.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Patience, resilience, and ability to build positive relationships.
* Willingness to support with personal care and mobility needs.
* Strong commitment to safeguarding and student welfare.
Desirable:
* Level 1/2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or willingness to work towards it).
* Training/experience in SEND approaches (Makaton, PECS, TEACCH, sensory integration).
* Experience in specialist settings or alternative provision.
* Basic knowledge of EHCPs and the SEND Code of Practice.
Contract Details
* Contract Type: Bank (zero-hour, no guaranteed hours).
* Hours: Flexible, work can be allocated Monday to Sunday depending on requirements.
