We have an exciting new career development for an enthusiastic and highly motivated pharmacist with an interest in clinical trials to join our expanding Pharmacy team in Swansea Bay University Health Board.
We are looking for an 8a Pharmacist to provide Clinical Pharmacy services within our clinical trial team. You will also provide cover in our licensed aseptic unit which supports clinical pharmacy services by providing Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapies and CIVAS. Duties will include supervision and release of individually prepared and batch manufactured medicines.
Singleton Hospital is a Cancer Centre providing services to the population of South West Wales. SWWCC includes a Radiotherapy Department, Oncology and Haematology chemotherapy day units and a dedicated Oncology/Haematology ward.
You will have full support of the Principal Pharmacist for Clinical Trials, Head of Productionand the wider Pharmacy team at Singleton and across the integrated Health Board.
You must have excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
Main duties of the job
The pharmacy clinical trials team work together with HB colleagues and sponsors to support a range of commercial and non-commercial studies involving investigational medicinal products. These trials evaluate innovative treatments across a broad range of diseases, give patients the chance to be a part of the development of treatments and the opportunity to potentially benefit from access to these novel medicines. This post will lead, within the clinical trials multidisciplinary teams, the timely set up and day-to-day management of a variety of clinical trials across various specialities.
You will also provide cover in our licensed aseptic unit which supports clinical pharmacy services by providing Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapies and CIVAS. Duties will include supervision and release of individually prepared and batch manufactured medicines.
This role will work with other cancer services pharmacists to develop and deliver clinical trial pharmacy services directly to our cancer patients. This will include clinical screening of clinical trial chemotherapy prescriptions on the Chemocare prescribing system.
The post holders will be involved with supervising and delivering training to provide education to other health professionals and undergraduates.

Qualifications & Knowledge
Essential criteria
1. Masters Degree in pharmacy (MPharm).
2. Post Graduate MSc/ Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent experience.
Desirable criteria
3. Independent Prescriber.
4. Accredited Tutor for clinical pharmacy diploma.
Experience
Essential criteria
5. Experience as clinical pharmacist in specialist area.
6. Experience of contributing into the pharmaceutical care in specialist area.
7. Ability to work in a highly specialist area and undertake autonomous practice.
Desirable criteria
8. Proven track record of competence.
9. Evidence of clinical audit, practise research, implementation of procedures, protocols.
10. Experience of working in Pharmacy Technical Services.
