The full-time starting salary is normally £42,860.00 per annum, with progression available in post to £46,586.00 per annum.
Birmingham City University is a large and diverse institution located in the heart of the city. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Lecturer in Civil Engineering to join our dynamic team. This role is suitable for an experienced individual, either through prior academic or postdoctoral appointments, looking to advance their career while contributing to a modern campus receiving significant investment.
You will be responsible for teaching in our undergraduate (UG), postgraduate taught (PGT), and Degree Apprentice schemes within the subject area of Civil and Environmental Engineering. The ideal candidate will be an aspirational academic, research-active, with expertise in Cost Management, Civils Quantification, and Cost, or other areas within Civil and Construction Engineering.
Through effective participation in the Civil and Environmental Engineering subject team, the individual appointed will:
1. Play a lead role in the successful delivery of UG, Degree apprentices, and PGR schemes.
2. Develop a research programme leading to successful REFable journal outputs.
3. Prepare and submit grant proposals to secure research and enterprise income.
4. Support the Subject Head and the Head of College in administrative duties.
You should be educated to PhD level in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, with a relevant professional qualification being desirable. Candidates should have an excellent research track record of published journal outputs and experience working in a demanding academic environment.
