Saltwater Manor is part of Oyster Care Homes, focused on creating luxury care homes where residents receive the best care and where team members have rewarding careers. The home at Saltwater Manor, Eastbourne is under construction and set to open in April 2026. We are recruiting for key positions to ensure a smooth opening and ongoing development opportunities for every team member.
The Role
We are currently recruiting a General Manager for Saltwater Manor to take overall responsibility and manage all aspects of the day-to-day running of the home. You will promote a caring environment that provides residents with a high standard of specialised personal care, meeting individual needs and ensuring everyone is treated with respect and dignity, with rights to privacy, independence and choice respected. You will supervise, monitor and evaluate the care delivered to residents, ensuring legal requirements are met alongside the highest standards expected within the care home.
Key Responsibilities
* To manage the day-to-day running of all aspects of the home including the standards and quality of care, recruitment and training, team communication, the premises of the care home and financial matters.
* To recognise and assess individuals\' needs, involving relevant professional agencies and relatives where needed, to formulate personalised care plans for each individual.
* To provide the highest level of personal care and attention to residents, following individual care plans and ensuring all contact is polite, friendly, warm and supportive.
* Responsible for understanding and complying with statutory and legal requirements relevant throughout the home.
* Follow residents' individual care plans to administer medication as prescribed, accurately maintaining records. Responsible for ordering, receiving and stock control of residents\' prescribed medication and maintaining systems for effective stock management of all products.
* To be an active and encouraging Manager, establishing and maintaining effective communication and good relationships with all stakeholders both internal and external.
* Responsible for recruitment of suitable team members, ensuring effective inductions and CIS standards, identifying and meeting training needs, carrying out regular supervisions, assessments, leading team meetings, and ensuring the care home is a friendly and supportive environment.
* Responsible for organising the team, including rotas, ensuring adequate staffing, and managing team absence.
* Responsible for controlling and monitoring the budget and expenditure of the home, preparing monthly cash flow reports for Directors and accurately recording all financial information.
* To support residents with their personal financial arrangements, maintaining confidentiality of all information.
* Responsible for the marketing, promotion and sales of the home.
* To deal with all prospective residents, providing relevant information and guided tours, assessing new residents and negotiating appropriate fees. To welcome new residents, complete appropriate records and paperwork and ensure adequate arrangements are made for every resident.
Essential Skills
* Prior care home commissioning experience
* Ability to control and manage budgets and accounts
* Knowledge of the principles of sales and marketing
* Skilled in the recruitment, selection and retention of staff
* Committed to a structured approach to training and development of staff
* Understanding of the Health & Social Care Act and Health & Safety legislation
* Leadership qualities, enthusiasm along with influencing and motivational skills
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* Professional, confident and warm personality
* Have a caring disposition, reliable and punctual
Desirable Skills
* Understanding of East Sussex Local Authority Health and Social Care services
* Experience with regulatory bodies
* Knowledge of Person Centred Software (PCS)

Hours Of Work
Your hours of work will be 09:00 – 17:00, Monday to Friday with some flexibility as required. This will equate to 40 hours per week in total.
