Overview

We are a manufacturing company, mainly serving the brewing industry, and are seeking a dedicated and experienced Production and Maintenance Manager to oversee our manufacturing operations.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a comprehensive understanding of production processes. This role is crucial for ensuring that production runs smoothly, efficiently, and safely while meeting quality standards.

This role will oversee and deliver the company's output against our warehouse requirements and supervise the management of maintenance for three separate sites.

Key duties include leading and coaching staff that report to you, upgrading, improving and maintaining equipment and driving continuous improvement, whilst ensuring processes and material are of the correct quality, safety and cost effectiveness.

The role is a hands on position that balances staff supervision and performance checks with reviewing KPI metrics and ensuring tasks are completed in a timely manner.

Experience in chemical and/or food manufacturing is essential.

The role involves:

* Leadership: Lead, coach, and motivate the production/maintenance teams (11 members of staff), contributing to the development of the company's production vision and values, policies, and procedures. To deliver on the production plan that will be created for you on a daily and weekly basis. You will be measured on conformance to plan therefore managing the productivity of staff is critical.
* Process & Equipment Management: Design, implement, and maintain production systems via existing software, machinery, and tools to meet quality, cost, and delivery targets. Risk asses and improve on existing processes. Conduct regular inspections of equipment and processes to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
* Continuous Improvement: Drive improvement activities using lean manufacturing techniques to enhance efficiency, quality, productivity, and availability.
* Cost Control: Manage the department's costs, ensuring optimal resource allocation and cost control for projects and operations.
* Health, Safety & Environment (HSE): Ensure compliance with all relevant HSE requirements and promote a safe working environment on the production floor. Working with your line manager investigate incidents and issues within your departments.
* Data Analysis & Reporting: Collect, analyse, and report on production and maintenance data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and track progress.
* Cross-functional Collaboration: Liaise with other departments and contractors to align production/maintenance across all sites, source new technologies, and resolve technical issues.

Required Skills & Qualifications

* Technical Expertise: Strong technical knowledge of chemical and/or food manufacturing processes, automation, and industrial engineering best practices. Knowledge of ISO 22000 or BRC preferred. Strong mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot equipment issues effectively.
* Leadership & People Skills: Excellent leadership skills to inspire and motivate a team, coupled with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
* Project Management: Ability to manage capital projects, technical issues, and new product development from concept to implementation.
* Educational/Experience Background – Strong knowledge of robust chemical and or food manufacturing. 5+ years experience in a similar environment. Project management preferred.
