About The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic lawyer to lead a legal team in a fast-paced, global pharmaceutical company. You will be responsible for providing commercially focused legal advice and support to all levels of management at Pharmanovia, including members of the Executive leadership team from time to time, ensuring alignment with global corporate objectives.
Reporting directly to the General Counsel, this is a senior leadership role and there will be the opportunity to build and manage a small team.
Main Responsibilities & Duties
* Provide expert advice across key areas of commercial contracts, corporate law and compliance.
* Advise on specific matters related to data protection, anti-trust, bribery and corruption, intellectual property, pharmaceutical marketing and advertising regulations and industry codes of practice.
* Lead, manage and develop a team of assigned legal professionals.
* Provide training, awareness and education on ethical and compliance matters.
* Manage litigation and contentious matters, coordinating with external counsel as needed.
* Deliver compliance guidance on data protection, anti-bribery, anti-trust, healthcare professional engagement, and other relevant risk areas.
* Foster collaborative relationships with regional and local management.
About You
Candidates with around 10 years PQE and commercial legal experience, gained in-house within the pharmaceutical or life sciences sector, are likely to have the skills required to be successful in this role. We are also looking for:
* Qualified lawyer in the UK or major Commonwealth jurisdiction (e.g. Australia, New Zealand) or a major EU jurisdiction
* Significant in-house experience within the pharmaceutical or life sciences sector.
* Proven management experience
* Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical/life sciences industry and drug discovery, development and commercialisation process and the legal and regulatory issues associated therewith
* Experience working within a global organisation and collaborating with international stakeholders.
* Excellent technical legal and drafting skills, strong business acumen and sound judgement, being able to effectively switch between the roles of legal advisor and business partner.
* Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and collaboratively with colleagues and external stakeholders, ideally from experience of working within a highly matrixed organisational structure.
* Strategic mindset with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive business-aligned legal and compliance strategies.
* Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities in complex regulatory environments.
* Strong organisational, planning, project management, communication and influencing skills.
* Culturally aware, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships, quickly establishing credibility and trust.
* Ability to analyse complex issues and to find pragmatic solutions to problems; a can-do attitude.
* Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities and get things done.
