As the charity continues to grow and expand its services, it is looking for a dedicated Financial Controller to take charge of its finance function, ensuring sustainability and long-term growth. Role: Financial Controller
As the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations for this charity organisation. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, you will play a vital role in maintaining financial integrity, developing financial strategies, and ensuring the charity’s funds are being used effectively to maximise impact. You will manage a small, dedicated finance team and work closely with other departments to ensure transparency and financial efficiency.

Main Responsibilities:
• Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare and present financial reports to the Board, highlighting key financial metrics, trends, and potential areas for improvement.
• Team Leadership: Lead and manage a small team of finance professionals, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and maintaining high standards of performance.
• Budgeting & Forecasting: Work closely with senior leadership to create and manage budgets, including annual budget preparation and periodic reforecasting.
• Grant and Fund Management: Ensure that funds and grants are appropriately tracked and reported, meeting all regulatory and donor requirements.
• Business Partnering: Provide financial insight to various departments within the charity, helping them to manage their budgets and make informed decisions.
• Process Improvement: Develop and implement processes and procedures to improve financial operations, ensuring compliance with charity regulations and best practices.
• Cost Control & Efficiency: Regularly review financial plans and budgets to ensure efficient use of resources and identify opportunities for cost savings.
• External Relationships: Liaise with auditors, regulators, and external stakeholders to ensure transparency and compliance with all financial regulations.
• Risk Management: Support the Director of Finance in identifying financial risks and helping to mitigate these risks through effective financial management strategies.

Required Experience and Qualifications:

• ACCA, ACA, or CIMA qualified with proven experience in financial management within the charity or not-for-profit sector.
• Solid background in charity finance, with a strong understanding of grant management, fundraising, and charity accounting standards.
• Demonstrated experience managing a small finance team, developing processes, and ensuring financial accuracy and compliance.
• Strong skills in Excel, financial systems, and reporting tools.
• Knowledge of charity regulations and governance is highly desirable.
• Passion for the charity sector and commitment to the mission of the organisation.
