Position: Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor Location: South Cumbria Overview: We are recruiting on behalf of a leading facilities management company for experienced Quantity Surveyors (QS) and Senior Quantity Surveyors (SQS) to support major capital projects across high-security and complex infrastructure sites in South Cumbria. This is a fantastic opportunity for commercially astute professionals with a strong background in nuclear, oil & gas, or similarly regulated sectors. Candidates must hold or be eligible for SC clearance and either be local to the area or happy to travel. Project Value: £50m–£100m Key Responsibilities: Commercial Management Manage commercial performance across assigned projects Control project costs including forecasting, budgeting, and reporting Analyse and prepare tender returns and contract documentation Contract Management Draft and negotiate contracts with clients and subcontractors Ensure full compliance with all contractual obligations Handle variations, claims, and final accounts Procurement Develop procurement strategies aligned with project goals Select and appoint subcontractors in line with quality and budget requirements Risk Management Identify and mitigate commercial and contractual risks Conduct detailed risk and value analysis Team & Stakeholder Engagement Mentor and guide junior QS staff where required Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders Reporting Deliver accurate cost and value reports Maintain robust records and progress updates Candidate Requirements: Qualifications: Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field RICS or CIOB membership desirable Experience: Strong background in commercial roles within nuclear, oil & gas, or high-security environments Knowledge of NEC3/4 and other standard forms of contract Skills & Attributes: Excellent numerical, communication, and negotiation skills High attention to detail and strong organizational capability Ability to work independently and under pressure Proficient in cost management systems and reporting tools Additional Information: Reports to: Head of Commercial Clearance: SC clearance is mandatory (must be held or obtainable) Interview Process: Stage 1: Teams interview with the Head of Commercial Stage 2: Informal discussion with the Delivery Team
