Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is inviting applications for two Clinical Fellow positions in Urology based at Cheltenham General Hospital with the availability of day case surgery at Stroud General Hospital and elective paediatric urology at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. These posts commence on Wednesday 5th August 2026 for a period of 12 months until Tuesday 3rd August 2027. The post involves predominately clinical activities including outpatient clinics and diagnostics, ward work and adult and paediatric urology theatre sessions, along with participation in national trials plus supervised on‑calls at middle‑grade level.

Main duties of the job

This post is aimed at candidates completing core training, who have passed MRCS part 2 and are looking to gain greater exposure to Urology prior to applying for specialist training in Urology. We are looking for enthusiastic trainees to join a team which has an excellent reputation for training, those who are keen to learn and participate in quality improvement.

We aim to ensure you are trained to be able to cover urological emergencies at middle‑grade level and aim for competence in emergency procedures prior to completion of the post, for example, suprapubic catheter insertion, stent insertion, bladder washouts on the ward and in theatre, testicular exploration to exclude torsion and rigid cystoscopic procedures. You will be fully supervised until considered competent.

We will train you to become competent at flexible cystoscopy and other diagnostics. You will help cover diagnostic clinics predominately with patients presenting with haematuria and other 2WW referral conditions.

You will have weekly access to urology theatre lists which will include day case surgery, paediatric urology and inpatient theatre lists. You will be exposed to robotic, laparoscopic and open procedures.
