Community Phlebotomist
We are seeking an enthusiastic, flexible, and highly motivated Community Phlebotomist to join our friendly team in the community setting.
Your responsibilities will include working independently and as part of a dedicated team to provide high-quality, safe care for patients in their homes. This involves obtaining blood samples and conducting health monitoring as requested by healthcare professionals.
This role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work on your own initiative. The department supports continuous education and professional development.
Applicants will be subject to a 6-month probationary period, including bank staff, to familiarize with the role and environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Taking blood samples as requested by healthcare professionals for patients in their homes (driving may be necessary).
2. Undertaking ECGs as requested.
3. Health monitoring, including undertaking NEWS2 assessments.
4. Accurate and comprehensive electronic patient record keeping.
Work Locations
Our services operate from three main hospitals: Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal. We also serve community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

* FGH and RLI offer a range of hospital services, including Emergency Departments and specialist units.
* WGH provides general hospital services and an Urgent Treatment Centre for non-life-threatening conditions.
Community services for adults are provided in patients' homes, community centers, clinics, GP practices, and hospitals, aiming to support independence and health management.
