Overview

Come and join our Kaizen Promotion Office to support the cultural journey of implementing our lean management system, UHCWi. As part of the Transformation Directorate you will work in collaboration with our Innovation, Enablement, Organisational Development and Engagement teams to deliver our strategic objectives.

In partnership with the Virginia Mason Institute, we are committed to embedding UHCWi into the fabric of "how we do things around here". Our aims are to put patients first, empower our staff and deliver safer care.

We need to further connect with leaders and front‑line staff so that all are expected to and empowered to continuously improve for the benefit of patients and staff. We have made significant strides in training staff in the Passport to Improvement and Lean for Leaders, and now we need to support staff in applying this training in daily work to make measurable improvements.

Role and Key Responsibilities

As a KPO Specialist you will coach leaders to embed the principles of daily management and key UHCWi tools into their everyday work. After certification in Advanced Lean Training, you will lead improvement events, including Rapid Process Improvement Workshops (RPIW), and manage a value stream while coaching an executive sponsor.

* Lead and facilitate education and workshops to engage staff in UHCWi methodology
* Manage and lead a value stream
* Act as a role model, demonstrating the Trust values, whilst being visible and providing coaching, guidance and support for all staff
* Provide ongoing support to teams as they test ideas
* Provide feedback and communicate areas of concern to teams or services
* Empower staff to actively participate in continuous incremental improvement
* Act as Workshop and Team Lead on week‑long improvement events (RPIW), supporting and engaging the away team before, during and after the week
* Challenge processes to ensure teams develop and maintain a patient‑first perspective
* Coach leaders in the use of daily management principles
* Facilitate the Lean for Leaders course and coach leaders to apply their knowledge in everyday work

Interview and Assessment

We use a Values‑Based Interview/Assessment that explores not only what you do but also how and why you do it. Applicants should review the Trust’s Values and Behaviours and prepare examples from work or personal experience that demonstrate these values.

Equal Opportunities

The Trust is committed to equal opportunities within the workplace. All vacancies will be considered for Job Share unless otherwise stated. All applicants with a disability who meet the minimum criteria will be interviewed. Where a post has an overwhelming response, the Trust may use random selection to reduce the number of interviewees; disabled applicants are automatically guaranteed an interview and exempt from this process.

Pre‑Employment Checks

Successful candidates will receive a conditional offer and must complete all pre‑employment checks, including identity verification via TrustID, and possibly a Standard or Enhanced DBS check. The cost of the DBS check will be charged to the employee and deducted from the salary over the first three months of employment.

Contact and Application

All correspondence will be sent by email. Please check your account regularly, including the Junk/SPAM folders.
