Quality Improvement Officer

Fixed Term Contract (potential permanent opportunity)

£41,349 pa

Hemel Hempstead

Make a real difference to the lives of people we support

Are you passionate about quality, driven by evidence, and motivated by seeing people and services thrive? Do you enjoy turning insight into action and working alongside others to continuously raise standards?

We are looking for a Quality Improvement Officer to join our Transformation and Compliance team on a fixed term contract until March 2027. This is a high-impact role where your work will directly shape service quality, strengthen compliance, and support positive outcomes for the people we support.

About the role

As Quality Improvement Officer, you will use data, insight and constructive challenge to drive continuous improvement across services. You will visit schemes regularly and conduct full quality assurance audits, providing clear, evidence-based assessments of performance and identifying opportunities for learning and improvement.

Working closely with the Transformation and Compliance Lead, you will support the development and embedding of an organisational audit and quality assurance framework aligned with regulatory requirements, including CQC and Ofsted. You will build strong relationships with managers and teams, providing respectful, solution-focused feedback and supporting them to develop and deliver SMART improvement plans. No two days are the same, from analysing audit data and preparing reports, to completing on-site audits, facilitating quality discussions or supporting inspection readiness.

Key responsibilities

Deliver and support a programme of audits, including more complex or thematic reviews
Analyse audit findings, incidents and complaints to identify risks, themes and learning
Produce clear, evidence-based reports and dashboards for managers and senior leaders
Support the embedding of the Quality Assurance Framework and regulatory standards
Work with managers to develop, monitor and review SMART improvement plans
Monitor regulatory and legislative changes and support inspection readiness
Provide constructive, solution-focused feedback to services
Build positive, collaborative relationships across teams
Ensure the voices of people we support inform quality activity and improvements
Support policy reviews and deliver training, briefings and coaching on quality and compliance

About you

You are professional, reliable and committed to high standards. You are confident working independently but thrive when collaborating with others, bringing people together around shared goals. Calm under pressure, organised and adaptable, you are open to change and motivated by continuous improvement.

You are able to influence through evidence, empathy and clear communication, and you are comfortable asking thoughtful questions that lead to better outcomes.

What you will bring:

Experience delivering audits, analysing data and producing clear, evidence-based reports
Experience contributing to improvement or action planning
Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements (CQC, Ofsted, Regulator of Social Housing)
Experience within care, supported housing or quality assurance in adult or children’s services (desirable)
The ability to travel across services (car driver essential) and occasional flexibility to work outside standard hours

You don’t need a specific qualification, but you must be able to evidence working at RQF Level 4 (or equivalent) through relevant qualifications and/or professional experience. Training or qualifications in quality, auditing or compliance are welcomed.

Why join us?

You will be part of a supportive, values-driven organisation where quality is everyone’s business and learning is actively encouraged. Your ideas will be heard, your expertise respected, and your contribution will make a tangible difference to people’s lives.

We offer:

Professional development and sector-relevant training opportunities
33 days’ annual leave including Bank Holidays (pro-rata)
Competitive salary of £41,349 for a 35-hour week
Monthly attendance bonus
Hybrid working (2 days in the office)
Workplace pension & life assurance (3× salary)
Retail, gym, restaurant and cinema discounts
Employee wellbeing services
Free on-site gym access

We will be shortlisting and interviewing on an ongoing basis and may close the vacancy early.

We are proud to be an Equal Opportunities and Disability Confident Employer
