SEO Account Director
Location: Shrewsbury, UK (must attend the office at least once per week).
Salary: £38,000‑£42,000.
Full‑time. UK residents only.
Role Summary
The SEO Account Director owns the overall SEO strategy, performance, and quality of delivery across clients and portfolios. You’ll partner closely with the Head of Organic to drive innovation, develop team capability, and influence both client and internal SEO strategy. This senior leadership role balances commercial impact with mentoring and strategic thought leadership in organic search. There is strong potential for promotion to Head of Organic Search within 12 months.

Key Responsibilities
* Own end‑to‑end SEO strategy for key client accounts.
* Partner with Head of Organic on strategic initiatives and agency‑wide SEO programmes.
* Lead strategic client conversations and QBRs.
* Develop and implement frameworks for technical SEO, content strategy, link building, and performance measurement.
* Coach and upskill team members at all levels.
* Ensure operational excellence and account profitability.
* Stay ahead of algorithm updates, search trends, and industry developments to drive innovation.
* Support new business and upsell opportunities through strategic SEO insight and thought leadership.
What we’re looking for
* Proven leadership and mentoring experience in SEO or digital marketing.
* Analytical mindset with a strong understanding of all areas of SEO.
* Strong client communication and presentation skills at senior stakeholder level.
* Ability to simplify complex technical SEO concepts for non‑technical audiences.
* Enthusiastic about strategic challenges and continuous learning in the evolving SEO landscape, especially in researching, testing, and developing GEO service offering.
* Experience, knowledge, and enthusiasm to demonstrate thought leadership in SEO, both with the team and to promote GrowRoom to prospective clients.

* Number and impact of strategic SEO innovations and tests rolled out per quarter.
* Client organic performance health (% of clients hitting traffic and ranking KPIs).
* Client retention rate / Net Promoter Score across all organic clients.
* Team capability growth (% of team meeting role‑specific performance standards).
* Development and adoption of internal frameworks for technical SEO, GEO, content optimisation and digital PR strategies.
* Quarterly OKR performance.
