About the Role:
Our school in Darlington are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Design & Technology Technician to join the team.
This is a full-time role supporting the DT department in delivering high-quality practical lessons across all key stages.
You will play a key role in preparing materials, maintaining equipment, and assisting staff and students in the workshop environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare and set up resources, materials, and equipment for DT lessons.
* Maintain, clean, and safely store workshop tools and machinery.
* Support teaching staff during practical sessions and demonstrations.
* Ensure the DT workshop complies with health and safety standards.
* Assist students with practical skills where appropriate, promoting safe working practices.
* Manage stock levels and assist with ordering materials.
* Contribute to risk assessments and ensure safe use of tools and equipment.
Person Specification / Key Skills:
* Experience working in a Design & Technology environment, ideally within schools.
* Strong knowledge of health and safety in practical workshops.
* Skilled in using a range of DT tools, machinery, and equipment.
* Excellent organisational and time management skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Strong communication skills with staff and students.
* Proactive, flexible, and adaptable to a busy school environment.
Qualifications:
* Relevant vocational or technical qualifications in Design & Technology, Engineering, or related fields.
* Health & Safety training desirable (e.g., COSHH, Risk Assessment).
