Senior Theatre Practitioner

We are pleased to invite you to apply for the post of Senior Theatre Practitioner within the Ophthalmology Department, UHDB. Applicants should be Operating Department Practitioners or Registered nurses.
The eye theatre suite is comprised of 3 operating theatres, a recovery area and an outpatient ward within a day case setting offering all aspects of eye surgery, including ocular plastics, cataract, glaucoma, corneal and vitreo‑retinal procedures for both adults and paediatrics, emergency and elective work. Additional services include acute and chronic pain management and day case dermatology surgeries.
Responsibilities
* Act as a lead member of the theatre team in partnership with the Theatre Coordinator to provide clinical, professional and managerial leadership.
* Organise theatre lists on a day‑to‑day basis, acting as team leader in that list and managing surgical equipment, staffing and liaison with the theatre coordinator.
* Proactively co‑ordinate elective lists and emergencies in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team to create a continuous patient pathway.
* Maintain professional and essential development within the scope of individual appraisal and service needs.
* Support and mentor learners where appropriate.
Qualifications
* NMC or ODP Registration
* Leadership course completion
Experience
* Flexibility and adaptability to the service.
* Demonstrable theatre experience.
* Experience of working in a link role.
* Experience of ophthalmology surgery.
Skills
* Able to plan and organise own time and others.
* Demonstrates problem‑solving skills.
* Demonstrates ability to work effectively with patients and the multidisciplinary team.
* Ability to maintain and establish relationships within a team.
* Demonstrates leadership skills in a rapidly changing environment.
