We are looking for caring, compassionate, and enthusiastic Support Workers to join our team in our Newark service on a permanent basis. This is a brand-new service consisting of 7 apartments.
Full time, Part time and Relief contracts are available.
We can accommodate shifts for those looking for weekend work. Just let us know what you are looking for.

Our Service & The People We Support
Are you a person who likes variety in their work, knowing each day will be different to the last? At this new service we will be supporting 7 people. These flats will require staff to be trained in Positive behaviour support (Training will be provided)
Drivers would be preferable as some of the people we support have their own personal vehicle. Flats are 5-minute walk to town centre and all its amenities
The service requires 24-hour care plus a sleep in or waking night. The people we will be supporting have a wide range of activities they enjoy being involved in. Some typical examples are,
6. Local days out to popular parks
7. Film days
8. Baking
9. Going to local shops
10. Supporting with family visits
11. Music
12. Cinema
13. Pub
14. Gardening
15. Promoting independence in peoples own apartments.
This Service will require you to be trained in positive behaviour support which Mencap will provide.
There is also a raised flower bed for people to make use of.
What does a Support Worker do?
Working for Mencap you will be expected to provide an outstanding service that provides a more comfortable, dignified, liberated and happy life for the people we support.
16. Personal care - helping people to get ready for the day - assisting with bathing, showering, and using the bathroom, eating, and drinking, Medication administration, People moving.
17. Supporting people to live independently – budget management, paying bills, housework, organising appointments and cooking healthy meals.
18. Excellent communication skills/relationship building – supporting the person to understand the world around them and promoting positive relationships.
19. Community & Social Inclusion- supporting individuals to access and participate in their local community and social events to promote life skills and individuality.
Example of shift times are 07:00 am – 14:30 pm, 14:30 pm – 22:00 pm and then waking nights 22:00 pm – 07:00 am or sleep in 22:00-07:00am Our Rotas are organised 4 weeks in advance so you can plan your social life well ahead. There will also be 1-1 support at varied times.
