3 Month Contract With A Local Authority
Role Purpose
We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and dynamic Social Worker to join our fostering team. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of legislation and guidance relating to Children’s Social Work and be passionate about promoting the welfare of children and supporting foster carers.
As a Fostering Social Worker, you will play a key role in ensuring that the needs of children and foster carers are assessed and managed in a safe, inclusive, and supportive manner. You will adopt a strength-based, child-centred approach to your work, balancing challenging demands while developing your professional practice.
You will also work closely with experienced colleagues to raise community awareness and facilitate information sessions and training for prospective foster carers.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct comprehensive assessments, observations, and analyses to support fostering arrangements.
* Ensure the welfare and assessed needs of children and foster carers are safely managed.
* Develop and maintain SMART care plans and analytical reports for children and families.
* Support and manage a caseload of foster carers, including those caring for children with complex or challenging needs.
* Contribute to Skills to Foster training and participate in the duty rota.
* Represent the service professionally at forums and in multi-agency settings.
* Work collaboratively as part of a team while demonstrating personal and professional autonomy.
* Promote positive outcomes for children and young people through proactive interventions.
Requirements
* Qualified Social Worker with substantial experience in children’s social care.
* Strong understanding of legislation and guidance related to Children’s Social Work.
* Excellent writing, analytical, and assessment skills.
* Confident in developing and implementing care plans and professional reports.
* Ability to manage a varied caseload and respond flexibly to the needs of the service.
* Experience in contributing to foster carer training and community awareness initiatives.
* Commitment to child-centred, strength-based practice and positive outcomes.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team while exercising professional autonomy.
