Specialist Nurse / Therapist Eating Disorders Team
To provide care and treatment for young people in Essex, Southend, and Thurrock with an Eating Disorder. To conduct specialist assessments and deliver evidence-based interventions such as family therapy and cognitive-behavioral interventions to young people and their families within the NELFT eating disorders team. To contribute to the training activities of the team both within the service and externally. To offer consultation and advice on eating disorders and related psychological issues to other services within the Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health service, as well as external services such as schools, hospitals, and social services. To provide consultation on risk assessment and management of service users with eating disorders.

They will be responsible for supporting the Essex Eating Disorder Service for children and young people (CYP), providing leadership, support, and guidance to team members and trust staff, ensuring a patient-focused service. This will involve working closely with the Team Manager and Clinical Lead of the Chelmsford EWMHS Eating Disorders team, and being accountable for delivering and developing a comprehensive SET CAMHS eating disorders service. The role includes practicing at an advanced level, demonstrating high autonomy and clinical decision-making skills, with a focus on reducing prolonged inpatient stays.

The NELFT Children and Young People's (CYP) Eating Disorder Service, based in Chelmsford and part of SET CAMHS, is expanding. It provides assessment and treatment for CYP with symptoms of eating disorders across Essex, Southend, and Thurrock. The service is developing a home treatment and day program to support young people in the community and reduce inpatient admissions, including group work, parental support, and meal support. Team members benefit from excellent CPD opportunities focused on developing skills in working with eating disorders and related conditions in children and young people.
We are seeking an RMN or mental health-trained practitioner to join our dedicated team. The service offers the latest evidence-based NICE-compliant psychological interventions for children, young people, and their families with eating disorders. Our multidisciplinary approach to assessment and treatment is a key strength.
