Conference & Banqueting Assistant Manager

Great Fosters Hotel, Egham, Surrey, TW20 9UR

£29,000 per annum + monthly service charge payment


The Place

Great Fosters Hotel, the most recent addition to Alexander Hotels, has earned AA 5 Star status. It features 56 bedrooms across the Hotel, Cloisters, and Coach House, set in 50 acres of stunning gardens. Dining includes the Tudor Pass with 3 Rosettes and the 2 Rosette Estate Grill. The 14th‑century Tithe Barn, Orangery, Conservatory, and other meeting and private dining rooms are available for functions.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced C & B operator to strengthen our team and support the Conference & Banqueting Manager, ensuring excellent service standards across our busy function, events, and wedding operation.

The Hotel offers intimate rooms for special events and private dining, including the 14th‑century Tithe Barn, Orangery, and Conservatory, which comfortably hold up to 180 covers. With 50‑60 weddings booked this year, you and your team are key to creating memorable experiences.

As part of your responsibilities, you will:

* Ensure all function rooms are well presented and set up according to the event details.
* Maintain close liaison with the Sales office prior to an event to meet client requirements.
* Order and confirm all equipment requirements, with a good knowledge of AV.
* Meet and greet event organisers and their guests.
* Host events, weddings (including toast mastery at some weddings), and conference events.
* Assist with the effective induction and training of employees.
* Coach employees to develop their skills and ensure service standards are met.
* Serve food and beverage, including plated functions, buffets, conference lunches, refreshments, wines, and alcoholic beverages.
* Complete satisfaction checks and act on all feedback.
* Resolve any service issues.
* Present bills to guests or organisers and facilitate payment, liaising with Sales or Reception to ensure invoices are accurately prepared.
* Ensure conference and function rooms are serviced for guests and ready for the next event.
* Manage bar stocking and stock control.
* Keep the work area clean and tidy before closing.
* Collaborate with Painted Hall bar operations to streamline beverage service and cash handling processes.


Requirements

* Smart appearance.
* Excellent communication skills and a passion for guest service.
* Ability to work required hours, including weekends, to ensure event success.
* Technical food and beverage knowledge to offer the required service and develop the team.
* Supervisory experience within a top‑quality banqueting hotel/venue hosting similar events.
* Ability to manage and motivate a team of waiters/esses to achieve excellence.
