Design & Development Tasks
* Design and develop cable systems for power distribution and transmission.
* Create detailed engineering drawings and specifications using CYMCAP, AutoCAD and CableCAD.
* Conduct site surveys and assessments to gather data for cable system design.
* Perform technical calculations and analysis to ensure electrical and mechanical performance.
* Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
* Collaborate with project managers, construction teams and stakeholders to integrate design requirements.
* Review and approve design modifications and provide technical support during installation.
* Conduct design reviews and quality assurance checks.
* Stay updated with the latest advancements in cable technology and design practices.
Qualifications
* Degree in Engineering or equivalent technical discipline, preferably Electrical or Power engineering.
* Extensive experience in the design, manufacture and test of HV cables for HVAC and HVDC projects, including HV cable system design and ratings with CYMCAP.
* Understanding of IEC cable standards and CIGRE technical policies and documentation.
* Experience witnessing third‑party cable activities such as test, installation, transport etc.
* Experience with Working Groups and Technical Committees such as CIGRE and IEEE.
* Capability to travel to projects occasionally.
* Preferable – Attained or working towards chartered engineer status.
* Preferable – National Grid BP141 Authorisation.
