The Role
British Mica has been engineering solutions since 1905 and we now feel we have developed a system to help solve the housing crisis around the world by bringing together our material R & D department to produce a new building material that will give is the ability to develop housing in a new innovative way. Producing housing from raw materials inhouse to delivery to site. This new way of house building then allows us to work alongside AI and Smart devices to deliver the affordable housing stock of the future.
We’re seeking a technically minded Architectural Technician / Technologist with good 3D visualisation skills to join British Mica in developing this revolutionary new outlook to housing.
This is a role for someone with energy, creativity, and ambition – someone who thrives in a fast-paced setting and wants to see their designs evolve into real, impactful buildings. From product design through planning and technical drawings, you’ll collaborate closely with manufacturing and development teams to bring concepts to life.
What You’ll Bring
* A minimum of 4 years practical experience
* Strong technical knowledge of modern building technology, planning, and building regulations
* Ability to deliver feasibility studies, planning applications, and detailed working drawings
* Good 3D Visualisation skills
* Proficiency in Revit
* Experience with Autodesk
* Degree in Building Surveying, Construction Management, Architecture or similar discipline (desirable but not essential).
* Membership to RICS, CABE, RIBA, CIAT or CIOB.
* Excellent knowledge of the Building Safety Act, building regulations, codes and legislation.
