Fairburn View Primary School are seeking a committed and highly organised Safeguarding Officer to join our team, in a vital role supporting the safety and wellbeing of all pupils. Working under the direction of the Assistant Headteacher (Designated Safeguarding Lead), the successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring effective safeguarding systems, processes and practices are in place across the school.

The Safeguarding Officer will work closely with the pastoral and admin teams to maintain accurate records, support the management of safeguarding concerns, and ensure timely and appropriate communication with staff, families and external agencies. This role requires a strong understanding of safeguarding procedures, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality.

The postholder will contribute to creating a safe, supportive and nurturing environment where all children can thrive, in line with statutory guidance and the school’s safeguarding policies.

We are looking for a Safeguarding Officer to work with the Admin and Pastoral Team, who will:

1. Have the ability to maintain the highest standards of ethics, behaviour and professional conduct, acting as a role model for safeguarding practice across the school.
2. Have experience in working effectively with vulnerable pupils, and hard-to-reach families, building trust and maintaining professional boundaries.
3. Deal with safeguarding concerns as they arise, ensuring timely, accurate recording (e.g. CPOMS) and reporting to the
4. Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and Senior Leadership Team (SLT) in line with statutory guidance.
5. Demonstrate a clear understanding of safeguarding, health, safety and welfare responsibilities, ensuring compliance with school policies and Keeping Children Safe in Education.
6. Build strong, professional relationships and communicate effectively with parents, carers and external agencies to support the safety, wellbeing and progress of pupils.
7. Support the monitoring and analysis of safeguarding-related concerns, contributing to reports and meetings where appropriate (e.g. early help, multi-agency meetings).
8. Support with welfare checks, including home visits, adhering to school protocols (e.g. two staff member policy) and ensuring appropriate follow-up actions are taken.
