Job Summary:
• We are seeking qualified Family Safeguarding Therapists to join a dynamic Family Safeguarding Mental Health Team.
• The successful candidates will deliver psychological and systemic therapeutic interventions to parents and carers, working both one-to-one and in group settings.
• The role focuses on supporting adults with significant and complex needs, particularly around parental mental health and wellbeing, while engaging with wider social care systems involved with families.
• Therapists will provide clinical services including assessment, formulation, and time-limited evidence-based interventions tailored to the needs of families.
• They will identify and deliver the most appropriate therapeutic interventions, drawing on professional expertise and knowledge of models such as trauma-informed CBT, DBT, EMDR, functional therapy, and systemic family therapy.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
• Deliver psychological and systemic interventions to parents and carers both individually and within groups.
• Conduct clinical assessments and develop formulations to inform time-limited evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
• Tailor bespoke interventions to address specific parental mental health needs.
• Engage effectively with parents, carers, and wider social care teams to support family safeguarding objectives.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to multi-disciplinary team discussions and planning.
• Apply trauma-informed and systemic approaches to therapeutic work with families.
• Support and promote positive mental health and wellbeing outcomes for adults within the safeguarding framework.
• Ensure all therapeutic work complies with professional, ethical, and organisational standards.
• Participate in relevant supervision, training, and professional development activities.
• Travel as necessary to deliver face-to-face therapy appointments, maintaining a hybrid working model.
Skills/Experience:
• Proven experience delivering therapeutic interventions in a safeguarding or social care context.
• Expertise in trauma-informed therapies such as CBT, DBT, EMDR, functional family therapy, or systemic family therapy.
• Strong clinical assessment, formulation, and evidence-based intervention skills.
• Ability to engage and build therapeutic relationships with adults experiencing complex mental health and social challenges.
• Experience working collaboratively within multi-agency teams, including social care professionals.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding vulnerable adults and children.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information appropriately.
• Full driving licence essential for travel to various locations.
Additional Information:
• Relevant qualification and professional registration in a recognised therapeutic discipline (e.g., clinical psychology, counselling, systemic family therapy).
• Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week.
• All therapeutic sessions to be delivered face-to-face in a hybrid working model.
