We are looking for enthusiastic individuals with a keen desire to start an exciting new career in dentistry. The role involves training as a Dental Nurse Apprentice at Brace Street Health Centre in Walsall and attending lectures at the Birmingham Dental Hospital in Edgbaston, one of the country’s leading centres of dental training and research.
Responsibilities
* Assist clinicians and staff in all aspects of dentistry, supporting patient care and dental procedures.
* Prepare and maintain dental equipment, ensuring compliance with infection prevention control policies.
* Attend tutorials, lectures, examinations and training commitments to meet learning outcomes of the programme.
* Complete clinical rotations and work experience across various dental departments.
* Communicate with Senior Dental Nurses and Dental Nurse Managers during secondments to different departments.
* Adhere to the principles within the General Dental Council’s Student Fitness to Practice guidance.
* Follow statutory employment procedures and relevant Trust policies, including safety and infection prevention controls.
* Minimise the Trust’s environmental impact by recycling, reducing waste, and reporting maintenance issues promptly.
* Perform other duties commensurate with the post as agreed with the line manager.
Qualifications
* Maths GCSE Level 4/Grade C or equivalent.
* English GCSE Level 4/Grade C or equivalent.
* At least one additional GCSE at Level 4/Grade C or equivalent (preferably in a science-based subject).
* Demonstrated understanding of the role of a dental nurse and a keen interest in working in healthcare.
Training & Development
Apprentices will progress towards achieving a City & Guilds Level 3 Dental Nursing Practitioner (Diploma) and will specialise in paediatrics and supporting patients with special care needs.
