About the Role
We are looking for a proactive, hands-on Fleet Manager to manage the day-to-day running of up to 20 specialist HGV's. At Foley And Miles, we operate a versatile fleet of Rigids, Drawbars with crane offload facilities along with Artic Flats and Bulk Aggregate Trailers.
Working closely with our Sister Company, the Fleet Manager would also be involved with yard operations and maintenance schedules for our yard and plant machinery.
Far from a desk job, this exciting opportunity requires the Fleet Manger to embrace a dynamic approach to working alongside the office-based transport team whilst having active involvement with our Drivers and maintenance staff within a yard environment. Being practical, organised, and confident along with taking ownership of the Fleet is paramount.

Key Responsibilities
* Being responsible for the daily management of our fleet of specialist HGV's.
* Maintaining/organising maintenance schedules, compliance and repairs to our bagging plants and yard machinery.
* Ensure full compliance with Operator's Licence obligations and transport legislation
* Manage vehicle inspections, servicing schedules, defect reporting, and maintenance planning
* Ensure all vehicles remain roadworthy, compliant, and efficiently deployed.
* Conduct regular, thorough yard inspections to maintain safety, organisation, and efficiency
* Assist with minor repairs and basic mechanical tasks on vehicles and yard machinery where required
* Liaise with external garages and service providers for major repairs and planned maintenance
* Maintain accurate compliance and maintenance records
* Minimise vehicle downtime through proactive planning and preventative maintenance
* Promote high Health & Safety standards across fleet and yard operations
* Identify practical improvements to increase efficiency and reduce operational costs
Skills & Requirements
* Strong knowledge of Operator's Licence compliance and transport regulations (essential)
* CPC qualified (Desirable)
* Knowledge of FORS advantageous
* Excellent organisational skills and ability to multitask
* Proficient with logistics systems and Microsoft Office
* Valid UK Driving Licence (required)
* HGV licence Desirable but not essential
* Mechanically minded and comfortable assisting with basic repairs (desirable but not essential)
