The Client
This experienced Project Accountant will play a key role in improving commercial visibility across a complex, multi-currency project portfolio of extraordinary projects. Our client is an internationally recognised design business, with work spanning cultural institutions, public realm, commercial developments, and technology-led projects.

The Role
This position sits within a high-performing finance team of 10, reporting into the Head of Finance. You’ll work closely with Directors, Project Leads/Managers, and Operations teams to provide accurate project reporting and support senior-level decision-making across the full project lifecycle. This includes monitoring project performance, revenue recognition, WIP accounting, multi-currency forecasting, and the financial impact of fee adjustments, scope changes, and resourcing decisions.

You’ll have a meaningful impact on ensuring project margins, revenue integrity, data accuracy, and overall commercial control across a diverse and high-profile global portfolio.
Responsibilities
* Partner with Project Leads to monitor project performance, including revenue recognition, utilisation, margins, WIP, and multi-currency forecasting
* Prepare monthly project reports and dashboards, providing clear insight and narrative for senior leadership
* Support fee proposal reviews, budgeting, resource planning, and changes in project scope or commercial terms
* Maintain high-quality project financial data, ensuring accurate coding, contract alignment, fee schedules, and documentation of variations
* Lead monthly project reviews, highlighting risks, opportunities, corrective actions, and portfolio-level trends
* Oversee project invoicing cycles, ensuring timely billing aligned with contractual milestones and project progress
* Review and reconcile WIP balances, including change orders, fee adjustments, and project amendments
* Liaise with project teams on sub-consultant and supplier costs, ensuring accurate approvals, coding, and billing
* Support improvements across project accounting processes, internal controls, system workflows, and data integrity
* Assist with year-end processes, audit requirements, revenue calculations, and project close-out reconciliations
* Act as a trusted point of contact for project teams, providing guidance on best practice, financial governance, and commercial decision-making
What our client needs to see (essential):
* 5+ years of WIP / Project Accounting experience, ideally within construction, engineering, architecture, professional services, or design-led environments
* Experience working with multi-currency or international project portfolios
* Confident communicator able to build trusted relationships with creative, non-finance teams
* Excellent Excel skills and experience with project management or ERP systems
* Strong attention to detail with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset
What we’d like to see (non-essential):
* Prior experience in an international architecture practice
* Exposure to systems such Deltek, or similar project accounting platforms
Salary: £65,000 - £75,000 (DOE / Qualification) + benefits
