One of the larger regulators in the UK is looking for a Principal Lawyer or Principal Solicitor to join their Advisory team on a permanent basis.
Working in a leadership role alongside other Principals, the role will provide the organisation with advice on a broad mix of legal matters including public law, regulation, commercial and procurement, employment and risk mitigation. This may involve advising on policy, legislation and high-risk matters within a particular framework or in line with the corporate strategy. It will also involve taking on line management of two to three other lawyers.
Candidates will need to be comfortable working with senior decision makers and identifying legal risk in a proactive way across the organisation. Given the breadth of experience required for the role, it is envisaged that the suitable solicitors or lawyers will need to have at least six years of post-qualified experience within public law or regulation. Candidates will need to operate in a leadership role and engage with strategic, take ownership of projects or advice delivery and be able to work autonomously.
This is an exciting opportunity for a lawyer who has worked in central government or the regulation space to work in a broad leadership role. Candidates who are currently in private practice but working with regulators will also be considered. The role is offered on a permanent basis, working on a hybrid pattern from the London office.
