Cleaner, Sports and Tennis Centre

Permanent, Part-time 10 hours per week, 52 weeks per annum

£12.34 per hour, £6,434 pro rata per annum (Point 3 of Support Staff Pay Scale £23,807 FTE)

Hills Road Sports & Tennis Centre is looking for enthusiastic individual to join its small, friendly cleaning team. Applicants need to be hardworking, reliable and trustworthy. Previous cleaning experience is desirable.

The successful applicants will be required to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, paid for by the College.

The position works early mornings Monday to Friday. Exact times will be discussed with the successful candidate. All necessary equipment and PPE will be provided.

The Sports & Tennis Centre

The Hills Road Sports and Tennis Centre is solely owned by the College and operates as Cantabrigian Ltd. While providing an outstanding facility for staff and students of the College, it also serves as a community sports centre working in partnership with Cambridge City Council and the Lawn Tennis Association. Local residents use the centre on a pay-as-you-play basis or via the membership scheme. Activities range from tennis and fitness room sessions to squash, cricket and Pilates.

The Facilities

Tennis Centre: the tennis centre consists of 4 indoor acrylic courts, 4 outdoor acrylic courts and 2 outdoor clay courts.  The clay courts are the only two of their kind in Cambridgeshire.  Hills Road Tennis Academy High Performance Centre is based at the Centre.

Hills Road Gym: our Aspirations fitness centre is equipped with a range of cardiovascular and strength machines.

Sports Hall: the sports hall is used for a variety of sports including, badminton, basketball, 5-a-side, volleyball and korfball.

Squash Court: the squash court is designed and built to the national standard.

Sir Jack Hobbs Cricket Hall: our indoor cricket centre consists of a two-net projectile room with a bowling machine.

The Gallery: this room is used for a variety of activities including yoga, pilates and a wide range of martial arts.

The Sanctuary Therapy Room: this room is hired by therapists providing a range of treatments including physiotherapy and sports injury massage.

Top Spin Tennis Pro Shop: the specialist shop stocks all the top racket sports brands along with their latest product offerings as soon as they come onto the market. A racket stringing is also provided.

Reception: initial point of contact whether in person or by telephone.

The Staff

We are a friendly and tightly knit team comprising of the following:

Vice Principal, Finance & Operations: responsible for the overall operation of the area. This position leads the strategic development of the Hills Road Sports and Tennis Centre and acts as line manager for the Sports Centre Manager.

Sports Centre Manager: responsible for the strategic development and management of the sports and tennis centre. This position is line manager for the Sports Centre Assistant Manager, Duty Officers, Groundsman, Receptionists, casual staff, and coaches.

Assistant Manager: assist the Sports Centre Manager with the delivery of a quality sport and leisure service. This positions assists in the line management to deputise for the Sports Centre Manager in their absence.

Duty Officers: assist the Centre Manager in the day to day management of Hills Road Sports and Tennis Centre and the supervision of staff at the Centre.  Each Duty Officer has a role in the appointment and support of casual and coaching staff, preparation of marketing materials, and health and safety matters.

Groundsman: carries out grounds and security duties within the Sports Centre and the sports field including maintaining the external environs of the Sports Centre and Sports Field, and preparing and maintaining the sports areas both internal and external.

Receptionist/Leisure Assistant: responsible for addressing all queries, either in person or by telephone, in a positive and helpful manner, and follow up with the necessary action. The position is responsible for taking monies for all areas of the Sport Centre's operation, make preparations for banking, and the administer the bookings, memberships and block bookings system.

The Post

Reporting to the Sports and Tennis Centre Manager, you will need to be capable of working as part of a team and alone. You need to be reliable, patient, have an eye for detail and you need to be someone who will take real pride in your work. You will also need to be pro-active and report any maintenance needs to the Estates Officer or Caretakers so repairs can be carried out.

Job Description

Cleaner

Purpose: To carry out cleaning duties as part of a team of cleaners

Reports to: Sports and Tennis Centre Manager

Main Accountabilities:

* To be responsible for cleaning a specified area of the College site to the standards and schedules prescribed
* Maintain levels of cleaning products and equipment in that area and request additional supplies and replacements as necessary
* Reporting any defects or faults in equipment and the premises as soon as possible
* To be flexible and assist with cleaning other areas of the College as and when required, particularly during other staff absences
* Operate and maintain the supplied cleaning machines and tools
* Other interior and exterior cleaning and other tasks as may be necessary from time to time, within the broad remit of the job, as determine by the Estates Officer
* To undertake training which is relevant to the role and/or which is required by the College to comply with legislation
* To comply with all College policies and procedures. These include those where each member of staff has an individual duty to act and for which the College can be held vicariously responsible for the actions of its employees:

* Health and safety
