Overview
Engineering Project Manager, UK field Engineering Team at Amazon. Amazon Logistics is experiencing growth and is looking to hire an experienced, innovative, hands-on Project Manager who will be responsible for network-wide projects from concept to handover across the UK network of sites.
Due to the continued expansion strategy this will include new site launches, dilapidations and projects deemed critical to the business from an engineering and facilities perspective. Full UK legal and statutory compliance knowledge is required to ensure all projects meet standards and align with existing processes and concepts.
Responsibilities
* Lead and coordinate design efforts between internal teams and outside vendors to develop optimal solutions for Amazon Logistics network, including equipment specifications and Fulfillment Centre layouts.
* Manage capital projects including creation of conceptual drawings, equipment specifications and bid documentation to facilitate a competitive bid environment.
* Provide on-site monitoring and enforcement of installation schedules and vendor quality with MHE vendors/subcontractors.
* Inspect prospective and completed facilities against corporate standards, follow up on snagging lists and warranty work.
* Coordinate between internal departments and MHE vendors for multiple installation sites.
* Develop and manage budgets and contract documents (RFPs, change orders, purchase orders, invoicing).
* Coordinate operator training, procedural compliance, and maintenance practices for new and existing MHE equipment with local site management.
* Create, submit and track Capex documentation to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
* Collaborate with UK Real Estate, IT, Process teams and Operations Integration to ensure timely project delivery.
* Understand the operational process in detail, including the WMS tools used daily.
Basic Qualifications
* B.S. Degree in Engineering or related discipline.
* Experience in equipment design and layout of mechanical handling/conveyance/packaging systems.
* Proven technical leadership in development and implementation of large-scale, complex projects.
* In-depth knowledge of standard industry practices including Lean Manufacturing.
* Excellent working knowledge of MS Excel, AutoCAD, MS Project and related software.
Preferred Qualifications
* Ability to travel throughout the UK depending on project location.
* Ability to design, specify and layout MHE from manual to automated solutions.
* Ability to influence, negotiate and communicate with internal and external business partners, contractors and vendors.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and lead multi-disciplinary projects.
* Leadership and technical guidance to field personnel with experience in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and/or Toyota Manufacturing System.
* Ability to justify and deliver complex solutions to capacity constraints and switch between strategic and hands-on approaches.
