We are looking for:
A driven and detail-focused Scientist to join our QC Microbiology team in Liverpool. In this role, you’ll play a vital part in supporting both internal and client-facing biologics projects, ensuring the highest standards in microbiological testing and documentation. Hands-on experience with microbiology techniques such as Environmental Monitoring, LAL testing, Gram staining, water testing, and bioburden testing will be key to your success in this position.

Key roles and responsibilities:
4. Uphold the highest standards in the lab, ensuring compliance with Development, Quality, and EHS policies.
5. Support project leads in delivering both internal and client-based work packages, ensuring timelines and quality standards are met.
6. Maintain lab readiness through stock management, housekeeping, and equipment upkeep.
7. Prepare and execute documentation including development reports, SOPs, validation protocols, and test records with a “right first time” mindset.
8. Champion continuous improvement through 5S and operational excellence initiatives.
9. Lead the implementation and validation of new equipment, and train colleagues to enhance QC Microbiology capabilities.
10. Analyse data with precision and ensure all protocols are followed meticulously.
11. Act as a subject matter expert in microbiology, including contamination control and GMP analysis.
12. Manage QMS elements such as non-conformances, CAPAs, OOS investigations, and change controls.
13. Complete and review batch-related documentation to ensure compliance and quality sign-off.
Requirements:
14. Education: BSc/MSc (or equivalent) in a relevant life sciences field.
15. Experience: Proven industrial experience in microbiology QC within the biopharmaceutical or pharmaceutical industry (gene therapy experience is a plus).
16. Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with microbiology techniques such as Environmental Monitoring, LAL testing, Gram staining, water and bioburden testing.
17. Analytical Skills: Strong data analysis capabilities and familiarity with statistical methods.
18. Soft Skills: Excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
