Caterfood Buying Group is a collection of independent foodservice suppliers working together to offer both extensive product range, industry knowledge and geographical coverage.
We have a new position for a Technical Manager. As Technical Manager you would be primarily responsible for overseeing all technical aspects related to the Caterfood Buying Group own label product portfolio, offering technical guidance and support throughout the development process, from concept to launch. You would also be involved in ensuring timely product launches and maintains accurate technical information for all products with ongoing monitoring of the products and supplier performance.
Location: Totton, Southampton
Flexible Working: Option to work from home 4 days per week (one day in the office)
Hours: Monday – Friday 9-5
Role Essentials
* Provide technical support and direction during the development of own label products from concept through to launch, ensuring that new products are launched on time, accurate technical information maintained and products sourced are safe and legal.
* Line management of a technical administrator, with a focus on individual team member personal development ensuring alignment with job description, business goals and any agreed objectives.
* Oversee the management of product data across the various data systems ensuring accuracy, completeness, and integrity, with systems in place to monitor on a regular basis.
* Conduct visits to CFBG own label product supplier sites as required. These visits may encompass various tasks such as site approval, participation in pre-production and first production trials, addressing any arising product issues and conducting routine due diligence when necessary.
* Support and review product specifications, artwork, marketing collateral, and other technical or non-technical documents and where required liaising with chosen legal advisor or other trade bodies to ensure legislative.
* Internal, customer and 3rd party (professional & trade bodies) liaison, interaction and support as required, which includes customer complaints & queries, identifying trends, aiming for continual reduction in complaints.
Who we’re looking for
* Food Science or Technology Degree (Desirable)
* Substantial proven experience required in a manufacturing/foodservice/retail environment
* Proven planning & organising skills with the ability to manage projects.
* Strong drive and adaptability ensuring deliverables are met efficiently and effectively.
* Experience of leading and managing a successful team advantageous.
* Ability to prioritise and manage your workload and that of your team.
* Strong IT skills are essential with knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
* Strong communication skills.
* Strong influencing skills with the ability to challenge senior managers.
* Good stakeholder management and organisation skills.
* Strong attention to detail with the ability to interpret and analyse technical information and provide insight to non-technical representatives
