Infrastructure Engineer
Summary: Our client's Digital Services team is seeking an experienced contract Infrastructure Engineer to support its IT Infrastructure Improvements Programme (IIIP) — a high-priority, transformational initiative focused on modernising the Island's core digital infrastructure, improving service resilience, and enhancing cybersecurity readiness. The role involves working in a fast-paced, agile, and outcomes-focused environment, requiring a highly capable and self-directed individual to contribute to a dynamic, multi-disciplinary delivery structure.
Location: Jersey (On-island candidates preferred, open to people willing to travel 1-2 days)
Salary: Competitive (Pay Rate - Up to £600.00/ day)
Job Type: Contract (6-month initially)

About The Role: This role involves providing expert support in the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organisation's IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, storage, and cloud platforms. The Infrastructure Engineer will ensure performance, security, and availability of these systems. Key responsibilities also include fault resolution, system upgrades, patching, documentation, and collaboration with internal teams on infrastructure projects and improvements. The engineer will also contribute to disaster recovery planning, capacity management, and compliance with relevant standards. This is a contract role to support business continuity, address resource gaps, and deliver specific infrastructure initiatives within defined timeframes
What We're Looking For: Skills and Experience:
1. 3-5+ years of infrastructure engineering or systems administration
2. Experience supporting or leading infrastructure refresh, cloud migration, or data centre transformation projects.
3. Managing Windows/ Linux server environments at enterprise scale.
4. Proficiency in cloud computing principles (IaaS, PaaS), especially Microsoft Azure.
5. Knowledge of virtualisation platforms (VMware, Hyper-V).
6. Familiarity with network protocols, IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, and VLANs.
7. Experience with storage systems (SAN/ NAS), backups, and disaster recovery strategies.
8. Familiarity with ITIL v4 Foundation (service management knowledge).
9. Experience working in mixed on-prem/ cloud environments.
10. Coordinating with third-party vendors and managing escalations.
11. Working in environments with formal change control and service desk functions (e.g., ITIL-aligned)
