Our Exmouth Response Maintenance Business is looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join its small, friendly commercial team. You will take full commercial accountability for delivering planned and larger projects, on budget and to specified margins.
The contract with our social housing client in East Devon is delivered directly to the client, covering Response/Voids, Planned Maintenance and Compliance works for 4,000 properties in and around Exmouth, with a total contract value worth £13m per year.
This is a fast-paced, collaborative environment with exposure to a wide-ranging workload and lots of client contact.

The Quantity Surveyor Role
You will actively work as part of the commercial team, supporting the Managing Surveyor with commercial and technical reporting to positively impact the unit’s profitability and overall commercial success.
Responsibilities
* Take commercial accountability for the delivery of reactive maintenance works at or above agreed profit performance
* Analyse and review payments/costs (with SORs) to source cost-effective solutions while maintaining client relationships and value for money
* Prepare valuations and manage work in progress (WIP) to monitor contract performance and drive better commercial outcomes
* Manage and analyse financial and technical aspects of the contract including procurement, invoicing, and payments to minimise costs and maximise value and cash flow, meeting profit and debtor day targets
* Develop and maintain positive relationships with operational colleagues, customers/clients, subcontractors and suppliers
Requirements
* Proven ability to minimise cost and maximise value, profit, and cash flow, ideally from a maintenance contracting environment working with social housing clients or similar
* Strong data analysis skills with IT systems and Excel; thorough, detailed, and accurate
* Experience of working with direct labour and subcontract procurement
* Experience of working on Schedule of Rates contracts is desirable, with ability to price minor works from first principles
