Production Planner PPG | Shildon Full Time | Permanent The Production Planner is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining production schedules to ensure efficient manufacturing operations. This role involves coordinating with various departments such as procurement, manufacturing, and logistics to optimize production flow, meet delivery deadlines, and manage inventory levels effectively. Key Responsibilities: Develop and maintain detailed production schedules based on sales forecasts, customer orders, inventory levels, and capacity constraints to ensure timely product delivery. Coordinate closely with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure the availability of raw materials, components, and subassemblies, minimizing production downtime. Collaborate with manufacturing supervisors and production teams to align production capacity with demand, resolve scheduling conflicts, and optimize resource utilization. Monitor daily production activities and progress against the schedule, identifying potential delays or issues and implementing corrective actions promptly. Analyze production data, including cycle times, throughput, and inventory turnover, to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for process improvement. Communicate production plans, changes, and updates effectively to all relevant stakeholders, including management, suppliers, logistics, and quality assurance teams. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of production schedules, inventory levels, work orders, and order statuses using ERP and production planning software (use of an MRP system). Coordinate with quality control teams to ensure that production outputs meet company quality standards and regulatory requirements. Participate in demand planning meetings and contribute insights to improve forecast accuracy and production responsiveness. Key Skills: Proven experience in production planning, manufacturing, or supply chain. Strong understanding of production processes, inventory management, and scheduling techniques. Proficiency in ERP systems and production planning software (e.g. Oracle). Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Effective communication and interpersonal abilities. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities. Experience in a specific industry such as chemical manufacturing or aerospace. Familiarity with demand forecasting and capacity planning tools.
