Who we are looking for
We are looking for high performing Senior Managers to join the High Profile Clients (“HPC”) /Regulatory Team, within Audit Risk and Quality (“ARQ”). The role will be undertaking two key activities to support the strategic priorities within the Programme to Enhance Audit Quality (“PEAQ”).
We're looking for team members with:

* the ability to constructively challenge, dealing well in confrontational situations whilst maintaining professional relationships.
About the team

The team is looking for engaged and enthusiastic individuals who are focused on, and experienced in, delivering high quality audits. Successful applicants will be involved in a broad range of activities and develop skills and expertise to enhance your career and progress in your business unit, including experience in delivery of consistently high quality audits.
The HPC /Regulatory Team is made up of experienced auditors and technical experts (Senior Manager to Partner). The team draws on practical expertise from front line audit experience to:
* review live audits and provide coaching, feedback and practical support to audit teams to improve the consistency of our audit quality; and
* provide challenge and support to engagement teams and the firm’s internal functions subject to regulatory inspection to ensure appropriate inspection outcomes.
The HPC and Regulatory Review Team works closely with other Project Teams with ARQ including; Methodology, Training, Internal Quality Monitoring (including ECR reviews) and Continuous Improvement to help deliver consistent audit quality across the practice and embed a culture of continuous learning and development.
About the role
This role will involve applying technical knowledge, while developing strong relationships quickly, where you can deliver challenging messages in a positive, constructive and confident way.
Typical activities for an HPC reviews include:
* Performance of independent ‘real time’ HPC and inflight reviews of audits from planning through to completion and reporting, assessing the audit work performed over significant judgments and identifying ways to improve audit quality;
* Proactively discuss audit quality matters with engagement teams and help develop and articulate approaches to deliver high quality audits; and
* Challenge the execution of audit procedures and documentation of audit work performed.
Typical activities for Regulatory inspections include:
* Taking responsibility for Regulatory support for engagement leaders and teams subject to inspection including: analysing the audit against key areas of focus, providing support and challenge during the early stages of inspection activities, providing review and challenge on formal written responses, and managing and participating in interactions with the regulator throughout the course of the inspection; and
* Analyse and discuss arising issues and matters where audit specific or firm-wide action may be required, in conjunction with wider R&Q including the Continuous Improvement and Methodology teams.
Both activities require team members to then actively:
* support and coach teams to implement identified improvements in audit quality;
* contribute to the development of training and guidance on performing high quality audits;
* provide clear and practical solutions to ad hoc audit quality queries; and
* be involved in ad hoc projects such as; the development and delivery of audit methodology training content, audit quality initiatives, and contribution to audit methodology.
As a Senior Manager within the team your role will also involve: contributing to the evolution and expansion of the HPC program; evolving the approach taken to support engagement teams through regulatory inspection; taking responsibility for stakeholder management; and coaching other members of the ARQ team through various aspects of an HPC or regulatory review.
Team members will also be part of the wider ARQ team responding to consultations and enquiries from the audit practice via the Consult system.
What would you get out of a role within ARQ?
* Understanding what a high quality audit looks like - through widening your experience of the challenges faced by a broad range of audit teams. You will be a key part of the firm’s commitment to delivering consistently high quality audits, developing problem solving and thought leadership skills, alongside improving your technical skills and knowledge.
