Band 7 Specialist Nurse – Role Overview
The Band 7 Specialist Nurse will provide specialist nursing care for a defined patient/client group, acting as a core member of the multidisciplinary team. The post holder will be a responsible line manager to the UGI team, managing sickness absence, completing colleague appraisals and managing eRoster for the team.
Key Responsibilities
* Work across professional and clinical providers to develop and support patient‑centred seamless care, linking primary, secondary and tertiary settings to ensure continuity of care.
* Deliver clinical, consultative, education, leadership and research functions; bring the highest standards of clinical care to patients through symptom management, emotional support and appropriate service access.
* Assist in running nurse‑led clinics, managing patient caseloads and making appropriate referrals.
* Develop and plan specialist nurse‑led clinics in collaboration with the MDT and general manager.
* Promote clinical excellence through practice in the UGI/HPB cancer service.
* Contribute to MDT discussion and patient assessment/care planning decisions at weekly central UGI MDT meetings.
* Work actively with GP’s and community teams to improve prevention, diagnosis, aftercare and management of UGI cancer patients.
* Ensure individualized service respecting diverse cultural and spiritual backgrounds, maintaining trust and confidentiality.
