A well-established organisation in the Nelson area is seeking a detail-focused Payroll Officer to manage end-to-end payroll processing across multiple sites. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys accuracy, confidentiality and supporting colleagues with pay-related queries.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Processing
* Prepare and process monthly payroll for staff across several locations
* Ensure accuracy in salary calculations, deductions, statutory payments and pensions
* Maintain secure, confidential payroll records
Compliance & Reporting
* Ensure full compliance with HMRC legislation and pension requirements
* Complete statutory returns, including year-end reports and pension submissions
* Support internal and external audits with accurate payroll data
Employee Support
* Act as a point of contact for payroll queries, providing clear and timely support
* Offer guidance on statutory entitlements such as maternity, sickness and related matters
Systems & Data Management
* Maintain payroll systems and employee data accurately
* Process all starters, leavers and contractual amendments
Process Improvement
* Contribute to improving payroll procedures and overall efficiency
* Support the implementation of system updates or upgrades
Organisational Responsibilities
* Collaborate closely with HR, Finance and Compliance teams
* Uphold company values and contribute to a positive workplace culture
* Participate in training, development and wider organisational initiatives
* Promote equality, diversity and safeguarding where applicable
* Adhere to company policies, including Health & Safety
* Carry out additional duties as reasonably required
