Our Independent Visiting service is looking for volunteers in or near Cannock.
Responsibilities
* Spend time with a child or young person in care and participate in activities they choose, such as going to the cinema, bowling, football, a restaurant, cycling, or walking in a park, matching with shared interests where possible.
* Meet with the child/young person regularly, typically once a month, and commit to the role for a minimum of 24 months to provide stability.
* Be reliable, open, and compassionate; provide a positive, supportive presence for the child or young person.
What we’re looking for
* Passion to help young people and make a difference in their lives.
* 2 to 4 hours to spare per month.
* A genuine interest in the development and welfare of children and young people. No previous experience required.
Training and support
Full training and ongoing support are provided.
Application details
* Complete the Personal Statement section on the application form as fully as possible; it forms part of the shortlisting process.
* Volunteering mainly happens at weekends and after school hours, as young people are usually in school during the daytime.
Notes
The role may involve DBS check at an enhanced level as part of safeguarding requirements.
We are looking for volunteers from all cultures, backgrounds and experiences who want to support children and young people in care.
