We are seeking a Manager to lead our Economic Crime Unit (ECU), part of the National Environmental Crime Unit (NECU). The successful candidate will head a specialist team dedicated to removing the financial benefit from criminals.
Role and responsibilities
As ECU Manager you will:
* Provide strategic leadership for financial investigations and ensure compliance with the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA).
* Lead two Team Leaders (Asset Denial Team and Money Laundering Investigation Team) and a Senior Financial Intelligence Officer, guiding performance and work delivery.
* Collaborate with internal teams (Investigatory Teams, Intelligence & Partnerships, Legal) and external partners (Police, National Crime Agency, HMRC) and influence senior stakeholders to align with Environment Agency priorities.
* Support the wider organisation in improving processes, share lessons learnt, contribute to technical documentation, and advise other enforcement officers across the country.
The ECU is a nationally dispersed team working with enforcement staff and partners to tackle serious and complex criminality involving organised crime networks. The team comprises Financial Investigators, Financial Intelligence Officers and Crime Analysts.
Experience and skills required
* Exceptional leadership skills, ideally with experience leading a dispersed team.
* Good understanding of financial investigations and the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA).
* Experience in:
* Working in the law enforcement sector and understanding the National Intelligence Model
* Communicating effectively, delivering feedback, managing performance, and building relationships with external stakeholders
* Working under pressure and prioritising a varied workload
* Identifying areas for improvement and leading changes to working practices
* Developing and enhancing the capability of a team and the individuals within it
Contact and additional information
This is a hybrid role; you will work from home and your nearest office with travel across the country for meetings and operational duties. Incident response is part of the role and may attract additional payment. Training and workplace adjustments are available to support you.
